Jennifer Sorrell Parant is an American photographer; wife, mother, former hotelier, life-long moment catcher and people pleaser residing with her family in New York City.

Jennifer’s work can be described as natural yet ethereal, in-the-moment yet organized, simple, yet significant. She often stops what she is doing and where she is; to hold seemingly ordinary moments to create the extraordinary.

All of her work is framed limited edition pieces. Many of her pieces are created in The Hamptons, Montauk, New York City or inspired by her children or her travels.
My Journey Here...
When the pandemic hit, like many, my world felt blurry. Living in New York City and navigating motherhood of two young children; I worked daily to keep my emotions in check. Trying to make sense of it all, I began photographing our experience - my daughter watching the iPad, her gaze out the window that once was occupied by endless commuters, our first walk outside. This process held gravity and helped me express myself. When a few of my pictures made it into publications, I felt a certain energy and validation to focus on my photography.

By late May 2020, we decided to move to the Eastern End of Long Island. Once just a vacation destination, soon became our home for the next 18 months. During this time, I saw The Hamptons differently from my quick weekend getaways. The subtle seasonal changes, the way the light hit at different times of day, the metamorphic coastline, and the varied colors captured and inspired me.

That is when I realized that creating images was my authentic calling and rooted me to my childhood eponym, a "Sorrell Moment". I photographed whenever possible - sometimes with two toddlers in tow. I felt like a storm chaser as my heart raced to find the light. I enjoyed how sharing these images brought others joy and perhaps took them, even momentarily, out of the monotony of ’20 and thereafter.

Today, I’m pleased to share with you, Hampton Tones and Joyful Moments, a collection of images shot in 2021-2023 that shows the light and colors of the Hamptons, the shifts in seasons, or simply a window into a familiar or less known world. Most of all, may these images help distill the calm from the chaos of life.
